Please explain NECU's online banking (CyberTel) security features.
NECU’s CyberTel (online banking) security feature has two parts to it.
1) CyberTel users will need to define a “user name” instead of your member number. This change to a “user name” instead of a member (account) number, adds protection because the user name will never be printed on anything.
2) Next you need to select an eStamp (personal image). The image you select assures you that you really are on the Northeast Credit Union’s site and helps protect you against Phishing attacks, Pharming attacks and other scams associated with identify theft. Again, the image you select is never printed on anything and each time you log on to CyberTel, the personal image will be presented to you for validation. If the image presented is the one you chose, then you can trust you are on NECU’s site. If it’s not the image you chose, you should NOT provide your password, and contact NECU right away.
In addition, this security feature monitors for unusual online account activity. If unusual activity is detected, then you will be asked to answer two of your personal challenge questions.
